Privacy policy
Viewshed stores your portfolio records on your device. Online market services and messages you choose to send have separate data flows, explained below.

Contact and scope
Viewshed is operated by Amit Ashdot, a sole proprietor based in Israel. This policy covers the Viewshed mobile app and this support website. For privacy questions or requests about information you send to us, contact amitashdot@gmail.com.
Portfolio records
Portfolios, quantities, transactions, cost-basis information, plans, goals and settings are stored in the app’s local database. Signing in does not upload, back up, sync or lock these records. Anyone using the same app installation can access its local portfolios, regardless of the signed-in account. These records are not included in authentication, market-price or asset-search requests.
Optional accounts
You can use Viewshed without an account. When account sign-in is enabled, Better Auth runs on Viewshed’s server and stores users, linked login identities, sessions and verification records in our PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon. Better Auth is used as a software library, rather than a hosted account service. Account data can include an email address, name, provider identifier and technical session details such as IP address and device information. Apple or Google process the sign-in you choose under their own policies. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Email sign-in sends a short-lived code through the configured email delivery provider. Verification codes are hashed in our database. Provider access and refresh tokens are encrypted by our authentication library. Session credentials are stored using the device’s secure storage on iOS and Android.
Delete your account in Settings → Your account. This removes the online user, linked identities and sessions, and revokes Apple access for an Apple-linked account. You may need to sign in again to confirm deletion. Local portfolios and exported backups are separate and are not deleted by this action. Expiring verification records, provider backups and operational logs may persist under their retention policies. Contact us with questions about information held through online services.
Market data and network requests
Price and history requests send instrument identifiers and the requested date range to Viewshed’s market service. Asset searches send the search text. The service uses market-data providers, including Marketstack for securities and Binance for cryptocurrency data, to answer requests. Market results may be cached for reuse.
Network services also receive connection information such as an IP address, request time and technical request details. Our hosting provider, Vercel, may retain operational or security logs. These requests can reveal which instruments you look up, even though they do not contain your holdings, quantities or transaction history.
Backups and device storage
The manual backup feature creates an encrypted file that you can save or share to a destination you choose. Its recovery key is separate; Viewshed has no recovery service for a lost key. The service you choose to store or share the file handles that copy under its own terms.
Depending on your device and system settings, automatic device backups may also include app data. Their protection and retention are controlled by your device-backup provider. The encryption of a manual Viewshed backup does not describe the protection of every system backup.
Support messages
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments through our email provider, Gmail. We use this information to respond and investigate the issue. Sending feedback opens your email app; it does not automatically attach your portfolio or send a message.
Avoid sending financial records or recovery keys. You can ask us to delete support information you have shared. We may need to retain information where required by law or to resolve an ongoing dispute.
Analytics and advertising
The current beta does not include product-analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising. Operational hosting logs are separate from product analytics.
Retention and deletion
Local records remain until the app’s data is removed. Corrections preserve the original financial record; they are not an erasure action. Deleting the app removes its local database, but does not remove exported files, previously sent emails or copies in system backups. Manage those copies with the relevant storage or email service.
We cannot remotely access or erase the app’s local portfolio database. For information held through support or online services, contact us with your request. Available rights and any retention obligations depend on your location and the information involved.
Service providers and international processing
Hosting, database, sign-in, market-data, email and storage providers may process information outside your country. Viewshed’s operator is based in Israel. Contact us if you need more information about processing relevant to your request.
Changes
We will update this page when the app’s data practices change. Check the date above to see when this policy was last revised.
